Gemini Full Moon | December Astro Messages
The end of 2024 is a time of revelation. We are closing out the year with a series of energy shifts that will encourage us to open our minds toward expansive simplicity. It is now that we begin to see what was expressed for aeons; this large life of ours is a macrocosm of micro moments — of micro choices.
The vast majority of humanity has spent a hella time straining over impact, this obsession with doing shit so big you’ll be remembered. Makes sense I suppose, but does it? Why must our lives be grandiose in order for it to be celebrated? I mean sure, it doesn’t hurt, but over the last what 20 years with the increase of opportunity and comparison, society has become enthralled with being the protagonist of Earth’s story. Earth is doing just fine sweetie.
I believe it has something to do with a) the natural progression of ‘man’ and the ever evolving complexities of consciousness (a bigger discussion of which I am intellectually inept right now), and b) The Age of Capricorn (simpler, and perfect for the Astro-enthusiasts).
For the last 16 years Pluto has spend it’s time in Capricorn, opening our eyes to a lot of broken societal structures, unhealthy power dynamics, and an overall rattling of the status-quo. With traditional values still at play, along with the promise of a new age, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn also had humanity leaning on a greater sense of purpose. Lots of ‘doing this now will equal this later’. Very Capricorn.
While this forethought is a great societal attribute, it's gone a little too far. I believe we are going a little coo-coo with this imposition of holy ambition. How is life to be enjoyed when we have a looming pressure to perform on behalf of something greater than ourselves. I mean exist with service in mind yes, but feel as if your worthiness is tied to what value you produce, hell no.
We do however, live in a universe of duality and cyclical reoccurrence, and the pendulum continues to swing. As we enter The Age of Aquarius, society turns to fierce individuality. Pluto’s dance between Capricorn and Aquarius over the last few years has shown us a way forward; being of service to the collective through the expansion of the self. In dedicating myself to the path of least resistance, of love, of community, of a life without fear, I am contributing to the progression of the whole.
I mean, it is at the basis of all teachings; nothing exists outside of now, and through the shedding of our attachments and limiting belief systems we are able to transform our internal reality to one of flow and ease. I believe even if in small epiphanies, ‘wokeism’, or popular online trends promoting existential romanticism (me lol), we are beginning to come back to this feeling of - huh, the quality of my life does matter, and our experiences are all inherently intertwined.
The recognition is beginning to be that by merely existing here, we are a part of something greater than ourselves. And our individualised contribution matters.
So how does The Gemini Full Moon conjunct Jupiter assist us with this?
Revelation is found in the smallness.
When we experience a Full Moon, we are invited to let go. Bright, big, and in full vision the Moon sheds light on the depths of our emotions, revealing an intuitive lens on what is calling to be shed. We celebrate all that has culminated in over the last 28 days, and announce what we are relinquishing for the next.
On the 15th of December the Moon will be occupying the section of the sky belonging to Gemini; the sign of quick intellect, curiosity, and social adaptability. This will influence us to connect to the parts of ourself that welcomes triviality and newness, a refresh on attentiveness if you will. Noticing the ways we interact with others and the world at large, and how those moments of connection ripple out on to the rest of our lives.
Well acquainted with the feeling of boredom, an evolved Gemini seeks to fill their life with learnings, trying on many hats in the pursuit of a pure enjoyment. When in it’s highest frequency, societal norms that influence ‘follow through’ or ‘steadiness’ are thrown out, for what is valued to The Twins is a sense of play, and a boldness to explore.
With Jupiter conjunct (within 10 degrees) the Moon, there is a double focus on expanding our sense of satisfaction from the smallness of day to day. As the planet of luck and expansion Retrogrades here (inner reflection, taking stock, hindsight) we are given a really unique opportunity to see how much depth can be found in life’s small quests.
Now is the time to reflect on what comes easy to us, where our curiosities lye and how we can remove some of the pressure to make room for fun.
This transit is opening us up to see our world as one full of possibilities. When fully embraced, it is helping us return to the minutia or monotony of life with an improved mental state, able to recognise it is here that we hold the greatest capacity for expansion. It’s an attitude change.
With a gentle assist from Chiron in Aries, we are reminded of the pain that exists when we don’t go after what we want, and are given extra momentum and encouragement to take that step. This is the time to make that change.
Mercury has also gone direct in Sagittarius
Opposing the Full Moon conjunct Jupiter, our day to day (Gemini) is rubbing up against a greater sense of purpose (Sagittarius), this feels conflicting when it in fact is two sides of the same coin. We must take action on that which we find important to us; what life philosophies do you wish to live by? If you were to rid yourself of societal norms, or expectations, what main value systems would you lead with? This is your inner mission. This is what underpins your days, then the rest is discovery.
A word of warning - Gemini can also be a little sassy, abrupt, and unconcerned with ‘depth’, it can be a little cheeky and at times live within a one-sided perception, while Sagittarius can be blunt, dogmatic, and overly direct. Use this opportunity to learn about the people around you, allow conversations to be a pathway to deeper understanding, don’t let arrogance get in the way. Lead with truth, respect any feelings of impulsivity and self righteousness, then move forward without them.
Mars’s Retrograde through Leo - Authentic Action
Leo is passionate, bold, and bright, demonstrating to the collective what it is like to love yourself so fiercely that it rubs off. As we reflect on the truth of our existence and all that we wish to call in and change, Mars’s Retrograde through Leo is gifting us the chance to lean in to authentic action.
Upon first glance The Lion gives main character energy, though anyone who cares to look again would see what fronts as confidence, is really a defiant choice of heart-centred activism. Leo knows how to act from a place that feels true to their expression, they are will to show up as exactly who they are in showing the world how rewarding being seen can feel when it comes from an genuine place.
Mars is our motivations, our drive, our sexual energy, the motor force of our expression, it is where our spirit initiates. During this transit, we must spend time within our heart-space and gain clarity here. Where does your inspiration stem from, and how do we make it so every action is an announcement of our truth?
Leo says it’s okay to be you, it’s okay to want to be recognised and valued for what you bring - make that be a presence so true it inspires others to do the same.
On December 21st we enter Capricorn season.
This is perfect timing, now is a time to assess what resources are available to you, and make a realistic and sustainable plan of action moving forward. I repeat; realistic and sustainable.
Start the preparation, set the foundations, then begin to work toward your goals. Capricorn is a Yin, Cardinal, Earth Sign, meaning it is the feminine expression of initiatory energy. It is an archetype that is willing to begin again, to start anew, to take action in creating. With it being of yin polarity, Capricorn draws on and calls in the necessary means to move forward, so take the time to sit with yourself, feel the changes of emotion and energy that stirs within as you welcome this new phase, and allow the path to reveal itself, and start there.
Followed by a New Moon in Capricorn on the 31st
A portal to change. This whole month has been a time warp, culminating energy is pushing us into a whole new direction. On a New Moon the veil is thin, we are closest to our inner most self. Listen to the quiet messages of your subconscious and set the intentions of what you wish to call in, and where you wish to go.
Venus has been transiting through Aquarius along side Pluto since December 7th
This is bringing about hyper independence, shaking up any attachments we may have to people, desires, pleasures, or even money that feels as though it is holding us back.
This is certainly reminiscence of Uranus’s current Retrograde through Taurus, though while I feel that is more about inherent foundations built through beliefs, Venus in Aquarius is more about discovery. There is an inner mission, a seeker within you that wishes to be let out, it feels called to explore the theories and knowings that sits at the base of your soul. You’re starting to feel the weight of any one or any thing that is blocking your ability to do so.
What are you willing to let go of in order to regain your freedom? What or who is holding you back?
Pluto conjunct Venus is bringing an intensity to this, perhaps wanting us to go to extremes. Just understand the intensity is there to show you how much it matters, the window of tolerance is smaller in a way, you’re closer to your emotions so they feel more potent. Let this be a lesson, it doesn’t mean you must act ruthlessness. That would be an act of fear, not love. Just pay attention to how much it matters, then go from there. And remember, ultimately you are responsible for the decisions you make and the perspectives you have. While there may be an over-due culling of certain unhealthy relationships, look at yourself first.
This has been an intense but exciting year, feel your feelings, give yourself a break, and act from a place of integrity. Be thankful for all the growth, and take a moment to look around in gratitude. Life’s good, and it will only get better.
